Our Working Stock

“Pick a job, and the job will pick the dogs” - Floyd Boudreaux

All of the dogs in our program have undergone a comprehensive EMBARK DNA health test prior to being bred. selected Broodstock has strategic talents we seek to incorporate and perpetuate as we continue to build our line. Hip and ELbow testing will be included in 2026.

We began our kennel in 2017 with a vision. Informed by my experiences living abroad in Australia I had the unique opportunity to see first hand, how utilitarianism influenced dogs. From the cattle stations out west, the tropical rainforests up north, and the scrublands to the east - dogs were purpose bred with intention and function. The agrarian lifestyle informed how dogs were kept and widely celebrated throughout Australian culture. I had a front row seat to seeing “pre industrial” breed types work as intended, and it informed my understanding of what a “working dog” should be.

I was gifted a “working neo” who’s bloodline emphasized not only suitability as a guard dog, but strong pig hunting instincts. Viewing the mastiff types as capable hunting dogs, and seeing how intentional cross breeding strengthened these abilities was something I had grown to deeply admire. That Australian Pig Dog was imported to the US and we began our journey. We became deeply entrenched in competitive bite sports, learning how temperament and ability inform intent. I cultivated relationships with mentors throughout the United States who understood the nuance behind behavior, selection pressure, and how to bring the most out of a dog. I began to understand the importance of thorough testing, building, and exposing a dog to themselves.

The relationships with fellow dogmen and women paid dividends, and I found myself being offered quality stock to build from. They understood the “type” I was after, recognized my passion for excellence, and believed in the ability to bring this vision to fruition. It’s been a long, but rewarding road - with plenty of setbacks. The life of the breeder is full of failed breeding’s, dogs who began with limitless potential but later revealed uncompromising flaws, sunk costs, endless travel, wasted effort, one sided relationships, financial commitment, vet visits, sleepless nights, and time in the field that I’ll never get back. This is a lifestyle, it’s not for everyone, but I’d have it no other way.

This is both art and science. I put myself into these dogs to ensure they retain the strength of ability to do that which they were bred. I believe dogs embody the character man so desperately whishes to see within himself. They inspire me to become more. This is a program of refinement. The dogged pursuit of progression and improvement. We’ve built this from the bottom up. We know every dog in these pedigree since our start. We hold these dogs to a higher standard. We ask that our homes do the same.

This is a program based on reviving the hunting mastiff. Forged through function, and refined by purpose.

Welcome to our kennel.

Fischetti’s Cairo

Cairo is the hogdog import from a long line of catchdogs in Queensland Australia. Imported in 2015, he carries heavy Mastino influence, and truly represents a functional mastiff in both type and temperament. Moderately built at 28.5” and 125lbs , he is deceptively fast and agile with high prey drive, strong defense and strong nerves. Cairo truly excels in hog hunting, but has proven to be immensely capable in organized bitesport. This is a driven but exceptionally clear headed dog. He produces better than he himself is, especially with sharp females.

Savant’s Amina

Amina was bred to secure the very traits we admire most in the mastiff type. The holdback daughter of Khan x Bella, Amina is genetically prepotent and has been used to ensure we don’t lose the civil edge when bred to our sighthounds. Amina phenotypically embodies a functional mastiff type - slightly longer than she is tall, tight mouthed, and quiet in the home, while remaining a serious guard dog with the high prey drive we’ve come to expect from our stock.
